Dr. Sandy Sublett PT, DPT, OCS, CLT

  • Specialties: Orthopedics (especially foot and ankle care), balance and vestibular rehabilitation, chronic and orthopedic swelling management, lymphedema treatment and foot orthotics.
  • Approach: Dr. Sandy Sublett believes in treating the whole person, not just their current pain, and treating the cause of the problem – not just the symptoms. Her wide-ranging physical therapy experience and training in integrative health helps her determine the best path forward for each patient.
  • Education:  P.T. Pre-requisite work at Texas A&M University, B.S. in Physical Therapy from of the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center; Doctor of Physical Therapy from St. Ambrose University; certificate from the Integrative Health and Lifestyle Program at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and College of Medicine; Vestibular Competencies through Emory University under Susan Herdman, PT;  Lymphedema Certification through Artzberger/University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Sandy is passionate about teaching other therapy professionals about the lymphatic system and is a member of a group of professionals who are trying to “bring about a paradigm shift in swelling management.” She is the coordinator for Manual Edema Mobilization Associates and teaches classes in MEM (edema management) to professionals across the country. She loves socializing with family and friends, participating in Rotary International, and traveling whenever she can get away.

Nancy Buss, PT, MPT, GCS, CLT, CEEAA

  • Specialties: Geriatric focused PT, balance and vestibular rehabilitation, lymphedema, Parkinson’s exercise, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Rockblades), Muscle Energy Techniques for the Pelvis.
  • Education: Graduate of the University of Iowa, NDT trained for neurological disorders and certified to administer LSVT BIG ™, an evidence-based specialized treatment for patients with Parkinson’s Disease to enable normal movement and function, Lymphedema certification through Academy of Lymphatic Studies. 
  • Approach: Nancy Buss will tailor your physical therapy to meet your needs. She helps patients reach their health goals, with a focus on maximizing mobility and independence. Facilitating successful aging by combating frailty and weakness is at the core of her older adult physical therapy plans. She has a passion for seeing the big picture and helping patients to problem solve to achieve their best outcomes.

When not at work, Nancy enjoys spending time outdoors – especially with friends and family, and participating in music ministry at church. Nancy and her husband Alan enjoy traveling and visiting their 4 adult children.

  • Specialties:  Treatment of lymphedema of the head and neck, post mastectomy, vascular deficiencies, and wounds.
  • Education:Doctor of Physical Therapy from Creighton University, CLT through Norton School of Lymphedema and certified compression fitter.
  • Approach: Tory Haefner tries to incorporate each patient’s needs and lifestyle demands to create the best individual treatment options for the lifelong management of their conditions. She has also practiced orthopedic rehabilitation for over 20 years with a focus on post-surgical, sports, and chronic conditions.

She enjoys taking walks with her dog and reading books, and fun time with family and friends.

Connie Rystrom, OTR/L, CHT

  • Specialties: Evaluation and treatment of post-surgical and traumatic hand and upper extremity injuries, chronic and nerve injuries, and arthritis conditions. Connie provides consultation as needed for complicated hand and upper extremity injuries and fabricates custom splints for hands when needed.
  • Approach: Connie Rystrom is the area’s premiere hand therapy specialist with more than three decades of experience. Although now retired, Connie continues to support care through consultation and splinting exclusively at this clinic.

Kelly Schmit, PT, MPT

  • Specialties: Orthopedic rehabilitation, especially shoulder and neck treatment, vestibular rehabilitation, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Rockblades).
  • Education: B.S. in Biology/Pre-Med from the University of Northern Iowa, Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa.
  • Approach: Kelly Schmit, PT, MPT helps patients return to their prior level of functioning and encourage activity and lifestyle changes to prevent further injury, decrease pain, and improve overall health.

When away from the clinic, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family & friends, playing golf, tennis, and cheering on the Hawkeyes!

Corinne Saunders-Miller PT, MPT, RYT, CLT

  • Specialties:  Orthopedics – especially shoulder care, lymphedema and orthopedic swelling management, myofascial release, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Rockblades), SFMA (selective functional movement assessment), yoga and aquatics.
  • Education:  Graduate of the University of Iowa with a BS in Exercise Physiology, Minor in Psychology, Graduate of Northwestern University with a Master of Physical Therapy.
  • Approach: Corinne Saunders-Miller desires to work collaboratively with every patient to achieve their physical therapy goals. By striving to actively listen to patients’ issues and concerns, seeing the patient as a unique individual and utilizing her special skill set to address their movement dysfunction, she works to achieve the best possible outcome for her patients. 

In her spare time, Corinne loves to care for her family, cook healthy food, make green smoothies, garden, and practice yoga.

Jill Kilkenny, PT, MSPT

  • Specialties: Treatment of orthopedic conditions, post-operative rehabilitation, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Functional Dry Needling, Instrumented Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Rockblades).
  • Approach: Jill is interested in looking at the body as a whole. She enjoys educating others in how movement can play a role in overall health and wellness.
  • Education: Jill earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She earned her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. She is certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment and has completed Level 1 and 2 coursework in Functional Dry Needling.

In her spare time, Jill enjoys walking, yoga, pilates, sewing and spending time with her husband and two sons.

Michele Parker, OTR/L, CLT

  • Specialties: Lymphedema and conditions of generalized, local or chronic swelling.  
  • Approach: Prior to turning her primary focus of care to lymphatic treatment, Michele Parker has worked in psychiatric, skilled nursing and outpatient rehabilitation settings helping patients restore functional participation with the activities that are important to them. Michele understands that each client has unique goals, and she works collaboratively with each of them to improve their quality of life. Her mission is to empower clients with the resources that will support them to create their best possible health outcomes.
  • Education: Master’s of Occupational Therapy from Emory & Henry School of Health Sciences. Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) from The Academy of Lymphatic Studies (ACOLS). She is active in furthering her skill set via continuing education classes and has pursued specialized training in Craniosacral therapy and Feldenkrais method.

In her free time, Michele enjoys anything outdoors, physical activity, gardening, yoga, and spending as much time as she can with her family.

Nicole Chavez, PTA

  • Specialties: Orthopedic rehabilitation, Pilates-based rehabilitation. 
  • Approach: Nicole finds it her mission to help patients gain strength, motion, and functional movement in order to achieve their desired level of lifestyle activity. She enjoys motivating her patients to be the best version of themselves at any age. She has practiced in an orthopedic setting for over 25 years with a wide variety of conditions and enjoys collaborating with patients throughout their physical therapy journey.
  • Education: Physical Therapist Assistant, A.A.S. from Kirkwood Community College; Psychology, B.A. from University of Northern Iowa; Certified Balanced Body Pilates Instructor in Mat, Reformer, and Chair.

In her spare time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. If these two can be combined, that is her favorite. She enjoys teaching and taking Pilates classes. She enjoys spending time outdoors walking, hiking, and biking.

Administrative Staff

The first faces to greet you at ATS will be at the front desk. They go out of their way to always provide a warm and welcoming environment for our patients.

Laura Glanz

Laura Glanz is the Business Office Manager and billing specialist for Advanced Therapy Specialists. She will assist with everything but your therapy! Laura has a B.A. in Economics with a business minor from University of Illinois and an MBA from St. Ambrose University.

Laura, her husband, and three children have lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for over 29 years. In her free time, she loves to exercise, scrapbook, and spend time with family and friends.

Carrie Roelofs

Carrie Roelofs is joining us as a customer care specialist.  Carrie spent many years raising their six kids, and as they are growing up and leaving the nest she has enjoyed getting out to work.  She loves helping people and bringing a smile to their day. 

Carrie enjoys spending her free time with her husband and her children. She loves to go on walks, play games, watch soccer and spend time with their two dogs Leo and Sadie. Whenever they can get away, they love to visit Victoria, BC where a few of their kids are working or going to school. 

Mary Ellen Rogers

Mary Ellen Rogers joined ATS as office support staff. She helps keep things running on busy days and covers the front desk as needed. She has a BA in Art/Graphic Design from UNI, but her applicable skill set comes from raising successful triplets! There are always several of us needing help at any given time.

Her hobbies include reading, biking, and family time.

  • Specialties: Adults and children with neurological conditions, chronically-ill or immune compromised, conditions of generalized, localized or chronic swelling, and lymphedema.
  • Education: Certified Lymphedema Therapy CLT from The Academy of Lymphatic Studies including the Vodder Technique for Manual Lymph Drainage, Trained at the Chikly Health Institute in Lymph Drainage Therapy, Graduate of the University of North Dakota.
  • Approach: Therese Molloy, OT/L, CLT has spent her 30+ years career working in the inpatient, skilled nursing and outpatient rehabilitation settings helping patients get back to their day-to-day activities. Today she finds using a gentle approach toward pain and swelling is the best way for her to change a person’s physical state and improve their ability to function doing their chosen daily life tasks.
